Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.

Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Old growth trees dying?

Researchers found evidence that old trees, many centuries old, are no longer growing at the rate they once were. Most of the troubled trees are in Yosemite's National Forest in California. The researchers believe that climate change is the culprit. Click here to read the article in full issued by BBC News.

I have always been passionate about trees. I get very depressed and many times angry when trees are cut down especially for no real good reason. The recent findings about our country's old growth trees dying is bothersome. However, it is not a good idea to blame it on global warming and climate change. This is a topic that is still lacking in evidence. I for one tend to side with the skeptics. Rather I believe that the old growth forests are suffering not from climate change but from pollution. This may be the perfect time to move away from scaring the heck out of people and start educating about the long term benefits of behaving in a more eco-friendly manner.
