Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.

Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Another Reason Why Wild Animals Should Not Be Pets!

Yesterday in Stamford Connecticut, a pet 200 pound chimp named Travis attacked his owner and a family friend who is still in critical condition with injuries being reported as life altering. The owner also sustained injuries and a police officer suffered systems of shock. The chimp was killed, being stabbed numerous times by the owner and struck from several rounds by police. Travis managed to retreat back inside his home where he died. (http://www.connpost.com/ci_11718825)

This is just another example of why wild animals should never be kept as pets. You never know when something is going to set them off and become a threat. Even animals kept in zoos can attack without notice. It is not any fault of the animal but a lack of common sense by the people taking care of it. Every time I hear of such a tragedy I not only get angry at the way the animal always end up suffering due to the inept actions of authorities who can't get the job done in one shot, but also at the stupidity of the owner. One should always assume that an animal could become violent and unpredictable without any notice. Keeping this in mind, a plan should be formulated and enacted upon to not only keep the public safe but preserve the well being of the animal. Why can't people do this; it is a no brainer!
