Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.

Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Great Scott, Beware of the Toilet Paper!

Millions of trees, including those in old growth forests, are harvested each year in the United States for the production of soft cushy toilet paper. This information was reported by the New York Times which I found on foxnews.com. Ecologists warn that the devastation caused by destroying our trees is far worse for the environment than the pollution emitted by SUV's.

On the other hand, countries such as Europe are "less picky about what they use to wipe." Manufacturers can produce toilet paper using 100% recycled products. But because we Americans like it fluffy, (only 2% of the total sales of toilet paper in the United States are ecologically friendly), the fibers needed can only be found in our valued forests.

Think about it! Every time we wipe, we are destroying our environment more so than a Hummer!

So, what do you use to wipe?
