Welcome

Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.

Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Virtual book of life

A virtual on line book of life is currently being developed by scientists from the UK and USA. Click here for more information.

It is about time such a complete resource of biodiversity is being created. Though books still provide a wealth of knowledge, the primary technique of research amongst students is the internet. Such an online resource will provide students all over the world with a unique way of learning about plant and animal species locally and globally. Scientists will also be able to share research and facts. The online book of life will hopefully yield alerts regarding population change, climate change, new life forms, etc... There is also a chance that airlines will be able to control the number of bird strikes to plane engines. This endeavor has endless potential of learning and fact finding. The database is believed to be complete in about ten years. I can' wait!
