The other day I read an article on foxnews.com that stated all families with more than two children are destroying the planet. It further went on to discuss the need to implement contraceptive and abortion tactics to scale back human population growth (I'll discuss this on My Roar). The author then went on to discuss our individual "carbon footprint" and how each person must do what ever it takes to reduce it. What does this mean?!
Why have scientists, activists, environmentalists, and hippies coined the phrase carbon footprint? To get attention to themselves instead of educating people about the environmental problems we face today, they've sexed up the problem by giving it a funky name. Why can't they just come out and say "We are producing too much waste and must immediately start reducing it"!? Keep the facts simple and to the point. The more people hear it, the more likely they will start getting the message and begin the process of changing their polluting habits for the better.

Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.
Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Wow. I guess my three nieces are eco-terrorists, then.
ReplyDeleteI understand what they are trying to do. Shock value has a lot of worth in today's society. Nothing gets our attention quite like some horrific headline.
Sadly enough, it's even needed. People have been trying to warn us about the damage we are doing. They've tried 'just' writing about it. There was no response. Now, they must feel like this is the only way to get the average person to REALLY start caring about it.
I don't necessarily like it, and I do get offended by some of these things, but I can see why they use it, at the same time.
