Welcome

Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.

Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Gray Whales Given A Chance to Survive!

The gray whale is one of the most endangered animals on Earth. Only about 35 of the 130 gray whales remaining in our oceans are thought to be females of breeding age. Research from conservationists and scientists alike show that practices from oil and gas companies, particularly seismic work, hinder successful breeding seasons. As a result of this compelling research, Sakhalin Energy, located in Russian waters and affiliated with Shell, has agreed to suspend its seismic practices. Gray whales will now have a better chance at raising their young and a successful breeding season. Unfortunately, companies such as BP and Exxon refused to halt their practices but Sakhalin Energy's cooperation still gives hope to the whales survival.
