Welcome

Welcome to the Earth Chatter Archive page.

Earth Chatter is my personal blog where I write about animal and environmental issues happening throughout the planet. To eliminate congestion and confusion, I created this site to store older posts. In a nut-shell, this is the Earth Chatter Library. Feel free to look around.

Gray Wolf re-listed

After being de-listed from the Endangered Species Act a little over two months ago, the Gray Wolf of the Great Lakes Region has been put back on the list temporarily. Activist groups such as the Humane Society of the United States sued the government's ruling in federal court. The judge ruled in favor of the estimated 4,000 wolves living in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin because the original decision to de-list the animal did not pass public hearings. Should the US Fish and Wildlife Agency try to remove the gray wolf from its protection, a sixty day requirement of public comments and hearings must be met. Click here to read further.

It is my hope that the gray wolf will continue to benefit from the protection offered by being classified an endangered specie. Though the Great Lakes Region states declare that the wolf's population is healthy and stable, being declassified will result in hunting, trapping, and habitat destruction. Ultimately, the gray wolf will eventually be endangered due to human interference. Therefore, leaving the gray wolf on the listing will prevent such a yo yo status.
